From Addison Rae to Chloë Sevigny: Everyone’s Hooked on Getty Images Fan Club
Saul Pereira’s IG account unearths rare, forgotten moments in pop culture—and the industry can’t get enough.
For seasoned fashion and celebrity doomscrollers, @gettyimagesfanclub on IG is a daily ritual. Launched in 2022 by Australian archivist and brand strategist Saul Pereira, this account has captivated the sharpest eyes in the industry with its stash of deliciously offbeat pop-culture gems. Björk rocking rainbow shades at Kelis’s 2007 birthday bash? Obviously. Heath Ledger strolling through LA in orange cargos, a red knit bandana, and flip-flops? Absolutely. Lucy Liu, divine as ever in Alexander McQueen Fall/Winter 2002 for an appearance on ? Without question. And don’t sleep on Mary-Kate Olsen in those sky-high Nicolas Ghesquière Balenciaga boots from Fall/Winter 2006.
“I grew up devouring my mom’s magazines— to trashy celeb rags—obsessed with Pharrell, Kate Moss, and especially Ghesquière’s era-defining work,” Pereira says. “By high school, I’d mastered the art of spotting trends and understanding what was ‘cool,’ which helped me find my footing.” When he got laid off in 2020, Pereira needed a distraction and found himself plunging into Getty Images, unearthing wild, rarely shared moments just for his own entertainment. “Before I knew it, I’d launched an Instagram to document it all,” he says. Then, with just 250 followers, ’s EIC Mel Ottenberg reached out, looking to collaborate. “He called me up—super cool, super encouraging—but wasn’t exactly sure what we could do together,” Pereira recalls. “So I threw out a few ideas, he posted a couple, gave me a shoutout, and it just snowballed from there.”Today, @gettyimagesfanclub commands 70,000 followers, drawing in some of fashion’s most revered insiders—from A-list celebrities and powerhouse editors to creative directors, models, and IYKYK internet personalities. Who has left Pereira most starstruck? “One day, my sister and I were watching on HBO, and there’s Chloë Sevigny. Shortly after, I saw she’d followed me. Maybe it was serendipitous, but that was huge—she’s one of my heroes, and it felt incredibly validating,” he says. “Addison Rae was also amazing—she’s like a modern Britney Spears with a style totally her own. But when Anthony Vaccarello followed? That had me stunned—I’ve always admired his work.”Some of Pereira’s favorite Getty finds aren’t the headline-grabbing moments; instead, he’s fixated on scanning the background—especially the second and third rows of fashion shows—to spot now-familiar faces flying under the radar. “I was scrolling through images of a Chanel show and suddenly noticed Raf Simons just casually sitting in the third row,” he says. “Another gem was a 2007 Marc Jacobs show where ’s Erika Jayne was tucked into the second row with J. Alexander from —I can’t tell you how much I love uncovering tidbits like these.”Since the account took off, Pereira has turned his passion into a full-time career, landing a slew of gigs as a curator and consultant. The opportunities span the ultra-chic—think Gucci, Valentino, and Bottega Veneta—to the downright unexpected. “Philadelphia Cream Cheese was one of the wildest jobs that came my way, and it was pretty early on,” he laughs. “They were like, ‘
“This was before took off, so Bethenny Frankel was more known as a celebrity chef. Moments like these are just gold—the most unexpected pairings. Who would put Philip Seymour Hoffman, one of the most respected actors, with a Real Housewife? It’s perfect.”
“Everything about this image is so chic. The Egyptian tomb, the Tiffany lamp, and her signature Porsche Design sunglasses—she’s always had impeccable taste.”
“This is my favorite image of Alexander McQueen himself. I’m obsessed with the single black eye—he rarely went for this gothic, theatrical look, but when he did, it was so striking. The little details are everything.”
“I was looking through Demi Moore’s archive and totally forgot she dated Ashton Kutcher. I love this formal suit that’s been hacked into this shorts situation with a baseball cap. It’s just so cool. And it oddly feels extremely contemporary.”
“Tyra Banks is a hilarious, successful, and beautiful woman. But in many ways, she was a failed supermodel. So seeing her in this shot with Hedi Slimane in the background, one of the most successful names in the industry, is entertaining.”
“Back when Chateau Marmont had these gifting suites, here’s Anne Hathaway fresh from Juicy Couture’s. The look is so unapologetically Y2K, and that bag—a Juicy take on the Hermès Birkin.”
“I’ve seen practically every photo of Paris Hilton, and this one was new to me. She’s got Marilyn Manson-esque eye makeup, but the rest of the outfit doesn’t quite give the same dedication. It’s fascinating.”
“Can it get a more iconic situation than this? I love her capri pants, the Louis Vuitton x Stephen Sprouse Graffiti Bag, the little Chanel sunglasses, and the old-school phone. I love that she’s surrounded by bodyguards and shopping bags. I to know what John Galliano–era Dior is in those shopping bags.”
“Simon van Kempen and Alex McCord were among the most tragic couples on the franchise, yet I loved them so much—there’s something very camp about them. And I love discovering weird moments like this. Like, what the hell is actually going on? Why is he on the floor? And why is everyone’s shoe pointing to his crotch?”
“This is from the Imitation of Christ Spring/Summer 2004 show. She looks amazing here, and if you look closely in other photos, you can spot Cathy Horyn in the background.”
“Michelle Yeoh has always been incredible, though she’s only now getting the recognition she deserves. Here she is suspended from a helicopter above the Hollywood sign in a gown and heels. It’s so random, and it really doesn’t look safe, but it’s awesome.”
“Another unexpected pairing—this is from The Row’s very first launch dinner at Harvey Nichols in London, where Amy Winehouse was the guest of honor, and I can’t wait to uncover more moments like these.”
