How to Style: Electric Colors for Fall/Winter 2023
People usually don’t associate fall with bright, saturated colors. This season, however, the fashion world is seeing a huge influx of color-forward fits that prove that fall doesn’t have to mean somber tones! If you’re struggling a bit to add color to your wardrobe, here are some easy tips to brighten up your Fall fits.
Liven Up Your Layers
Layering doesn’t have to be boring, and layers are a great way to incorporate color into your outfit. If you’re feeling bold, go for a monochrome, brightly-colored outfit with a cardigan or jacket matched to your base outfit, like a dress, as I did above. But, if you’re looking for a more subtle touch of color, keeping your base more muted paired with a bright piece of outerwear is a great option. The latter is a nice way to go if you’re not used to wearing a ton of color as you can always take off the top layer during the day if you’re not feeling it (easing into wearing color is 100% okay!). Pair Fall Colors with Summer Brights
Getting more mileage out of your wardrobe is never a bad thing, and I’m personally a massive fan of restyling summer pieces as all-season where possible! The fashion world has seen a push for outfits this season that restyle some summer and spring favorites for fall and winter, and it’s the perfect opportunity to get creative while giving your wardrobe a dose of color (especially since pieces from these seasons tend to be brighter-hued). I’d recommend making lighter, warm-weather pieces work for cooler temps to be very conscious of the styling. A lavender cotton button-down can be paired with a rust knit cardigan, as I did above, for a surprising, yet season-appropriate, color combo. Add jeans and top off the look with colorful accessories for a look that’ll stay stylish all year long!
Be Unapologetically Bold with Colorful Prints
If you’re a pro at wearing electric brights and are looking for a challenge, here’s the ultimate one: punch it up and mix colorful prints for a bold statement OOTD! Show you’ve graduated from basic color blocking with a fit to turn heads. An easy way to do this is by picking a monochrome (aka just one) color palette and then choosing patterns in various shades of that color. Accent with metallic accessories (which are neutrals, believe it or not!) and you’ll have a polished, standout look you can’t wait to show off!
