ModeSens Influencer of the Week: Zoe Hennessey

For this week’s influencer spotlight, we’re showcasing Zoe Hennessey. From sketching outfits at 4 years old to becoming a stylist in New York City, Zoe’s journey in the fashion industry has been fueled by passion. As a stylist, some of her favorite aspects of the gig is ensuring her clients feel confident and comfortable — providing meaningful impact in people’s lives through clothing. Q&A with Zoe Hennessey:

How did you get into fashion?

ZH: I started as a fashion stylist assistant in NYC, where I was fortunate enough to work on awe-inspiring photoshoots alongside esteemed photographers and accomplished stylists, leaving an indelible mark on my career. Gradually, I built a portfolio and earned recognition that allowed me to secure my own jobs. After moving to Los Angeles, I began personal shopping. Now, I revel in the perfect fusion of these two worlds, blending my expertise in styling with the personalized touch of helping individuals find their unique style.

Do you remember when you first knew you loved it? Please give details.

ZH: Fashion has been my passion since day one! I was sketching clothing designs when I was 4 years old! I feel the most creative and excited when I am working on a styling or fashion project. 

Describe your style in three words.

ZH: Unexpected; comfortable; trendy

Who are your favorite designers and why?

ZH: My favorite designers change with each new collection, but Dries Van Noten is a perennial favorite because his clothes always seem to transport somewhere luxurious and extravagant. Some other favs right now are Loewe, The Row, Acne, Khaite, Bottega, Prada... the list goes on and on...

What is your favorite thing about working in fashion?

ZH: I truly love getting the perfect article of clothing for a client that makes them feel and look amazing. It's nice to be able to impact someone in a meaningful way.

What type of looks do you create for your followers?

ZH: I try to create looks that are inspirational and trendy, but also realistic and approachable. Most of my clients want clothes that are comfortable (as do I!) so I keep comfort a top priority.

What is your go-to look for the day?

ZH: I am on my feet all day and I need to be able to move around, so comfort and functionality are always important. I'll often choose a cool sneaker and wide-leg pants, and pair them with a tee and oversized blazer. 

What is your go-to look for the night?

ZH: I tend to dress for the occasion and the people I'll be around. In general, LA is very casual, but I do try to wear a more clever outfit at night. That might be a printed Marni top with cargo pants and Tabi boots, chunky jewelry, and a big coat. I love seeing other people in LA wearing cute outfits. 

Tell us one of your best influencer hacks.

ZH: No hacks, really - I think it's just continuous hard work and dedication.

Why do you love using ModeSens?

What's your best fashion memory?

ZH: For my wedding (which was tiny and I only had about a month in advance to plan for), I chose a poofy Cecilie Bahnsen dress. When I tried it on, I instantly loved it because it was oversized and weird and certainly not a traditional wedding dress! It was quirky and perfect for me, but something was still missing. After experimenting with different pieces, that something ended up being a $7 veil off of Amazon that made the whole look come together. I'm still so happy with how unexpected, comfortable, and trendy the whole look was (see what I did there?)!

What do you love about ModeSens and how does it help you as an Influencer?

What is the best piece of fashion advice you ever received or that you would like to share with others?

ZH: "Cost-per-wear" is advice I live by!
