Inspired by clay in the process of being moulded, 'Ori' is a study in transformation. Capturing the nature of the material itself, and the act of making, this sculptural duo is named after the Japanese verb meaning "to fold." The design by 101 Copenhagen is characterized by smooth, rounded lines and swooping angles. Piercings in the material create an organic interplay between solidity and space. Pieces appear vastly different when viewed from different angles, inviting infinite engagement with meaning and form. As light changes throughout the day, shadows in the curves create new dimension. The result is the effect of objects still in the process of production. Each a strong presence in its own right, 'Ori' can be displayed as a pair, or separately, bringing an artistic presence to rooms. Handpainted in black, each individual sculpture offers subtle variations in brushstrokes.
