The pieces of this magnificent and comprehensive antique George V English sterling silver flatware service for twelve persons are crafted in the Sandringham pattern. Each spoon and fork is embellished with a paralleling border to the handle, in addition to a pointed terminal. The original table and dessert knives, in addition to the carving set are fitted with composite handles, and the fish service and fruit service all retain the original plain rounded mother of pearl handles; each with plain ferrules. The fundamental pieces of the basic service were crafted by the Sheffield silversmith Emile Viner of Viner's Ltd between 1934-1939; these pieces will have been crafted in fewer years but due to the hallmarking system the components bear the date letters 'r', 's', 't', 'u', 'v' and 'w'. This service will have been retailed as a complete set and between the dates stated.
