Akua Objects was founded in 2022 in Copenhagen by Annika Zobel Agerled and Josefine Arthur with a vision to create glassware as poetic objects.Inspired by the poetry found within the silhouette of a flower and the profound love for flora expressed by the Danish author Karen Blixen; this vase is a homage to the organic elegance of nature. Its elevated base lends an air of poetry and space for stems to dance freely with undulating waves that gently guide flowers to unfold freely and gracefully even after they've been placed in water. As Blixen herself eloquently put it; the unfolding of flowers is one of life's greatest miracles. Each vase is a masterpiece of craftsmanship; meticulously crafted in three separate parts – base; sphere; and body – before being seamlessly joined together by skilled artisans in Murano. Hand-blown with care; it takes a team of three – a master and his dedicated artisans – to bring each vase to life.
