'Sei Lune' Ceiling Light by Angelo Lelii for Arredoluce, Italy, 1961 A signature work by Angelo Lelii for Arredoluce, the Sei Lune takes its name from its six flattened frosted glass shades – each a softly luminous disc, satin in finish, diffusing light with an even, enveloping warmth. The aged brass arms radiate from a central hub at varying angles and lengths, the composition deliberately asymmetric, closer to a kinetic sculpture than a conventional ceiling fixture. The frosted glass transforms when lit – neither transparent nor opaque, but something between the two, the light emerging soft and atmospheric. Arredoluce, founded in Monza in 1943, was among the most experimental Italian lighting firms of the mid-century. Lelii's work for the company consistently placed sculptural ambition on equal footing with function. Rewired for U.S. standards.
