BLOCK is a series of objects comprised of brass forms that plummet into cast crystal volumes. Molten Swedish barium crystal is poured into textured graphite molds; giving the cooled blocks the appearance of ice. The crystal acts as a plinth; both supporting and obscuring the heavy brass to create a sense of harmonious displacement. The series examines the relationship between the stable and the unstable; the unbreakable and the fragile; reflecting on what it is to conceal; to enclose; and to support.
