Originally designed by Alvar Aalto in 1945, 'Bench 153B' is perhaps one of the Finnish designer's most recognisable pieces. The original features — defined by four legs which correspond with other pieces from the designer's 'L-leg' family — are still there, but this special edition is notable for Japanese designer Jo Nagasaka's application of two layers of green and yellow lacquer on the surface as part of his ColoRing series for Artek. The result is a solid birch wood bench that presents the warm and organic qualities of Aalto's original, uplifted by Nagasaka's colour infusion.
