Commemorating the one year anniversary of his Kith boutique in New York, Ronnie Fieg released the Ronnie Fieg x Asics Gel-Lyte III "Selvedge Denim" in December of 2012. Trying to capture the American fashion culture though a single shoe, RF decided that the Selvedge GL3 would be shrouded in denim and adorned with white and red accents throughout. Another quality that Ronnie Fieg wanted to encapsulate with the Selvedge Denims GLIII was the hard work and commitment that it took to get his Kith store off the ground, and the strength of Selvedge Denim does just that. The GEL-Lyte 3 also represented the "brown room" in Kith's SoHo store that features 1950s brick, 150 year-old wood and American steel. Incorporating all of these ideas and desires into one shoe sets the Selvedge Denim's design apart from many other collaborations. Striped with white leather and red underlays, the ASICS Selvedge Denims age better than a sneaker made of leather or suede and create their own personality and character with wear.
