The story of the Comme des Garçons play Heart logo is just as unconventional as the label itself. Graphic artist Filip Pagowski first began his relationship with the label in the early ‘90s when he walked several Paris Fashion Week runways for the House, but his first commission came in 1999. In typical fashion, Rei Kawakubo asked Pagwoski to create a series of designs without seeing the season's clothing, allowing his work to be created independent of the collection. While his lips, hearts, blades and eye designs appeared in a standout look from Fall/Winter 2000, the iconic Heart would only resurface with the launch of play in 2002, selected as a recognisable emblem for the casual line; here, it adorns a Japanese-crafted wool cardigan, elevating your look with a touch of high fashion iconography.
