His sons, Auguste Daum (1853-1909) and Antonin Daum (1864-1931), led its growth during the flourishing Art Nouveau period. Daum is one of the few glass manufacturers to employ the pâte de verre (glass paste) process for art glass sculptures, a technique that involves placing crushed glass into a refractory mold and then fusing it in a kiln.
