Laura Kolbe is a physician, medical ethicist, and writer based in New York City. She is the author of the poetry collection Little Pharma .   In her work as a physician, she sees countless patients whose health and wellbeing have been compromised by encounters with inadequate structures of care. Reproductive choice is one of the more visible, though by no means the only, space in which this matters.  Her scarf design features the text of her poem "Buried Abecedary for Intensive Care" — selected for  Best American Poetry 2022 — in a layout that sees the language of medicine and the body pushing up against dramatically- colored borders, as though it wants to expand what's possible.    About t he National Network of Abortion Funds The National Network of Abortion Funds builds power with members to remove financial and logistical barriers to abortion access by centering people who have abortions and organizing at the intersection of racial, economic, and reproductive justice.   This scarf is printed in a limited, numbered edition of 100.  $100 from each sale of this scarf from September 27, 2023 to September 27, 2025 will be donated to the National Network of Abortion Funds. There will be a maximum donation of $10,000.
