Regency tailcoat of the early 19th century Fashionable Regency Tail-coat - of the early 1800's In the early 19th century the gentleman's tailcoat became subject to the whims of fashion - we are talking the Jane Austen era here - and here we offer a selection of collar and lapel variations. (For the standard high-collar see our 'RegencyTail-coat - 1790 - 1830) The designs shown vary from straight cut front to sloping cut, and high collar to 'M' shape lay-flat collar. You can choose between single and double-breasted or the non-buttoning front in a 'dress' coat such as the burgundy velvet shown here. All styles are fully lined with functional side pockets and button-detail to the back vents.
