Shinichi and Yasue, the self-taught artists behind Iida Woodturning, work exclusively with a lathe to celebrate the natural colour and grain of wood. This hand-turned bowl is an example of their signature earth finish. Inspired by the Japanese concept of sabi - which is dedicated to finding beauty in the natural ageing process - it's exposed to rain and soil to reach its distinctive texture and patina. Due to natural imperfections in the wood, this one-of-a-kind piece is only suitable for decorative use.
