Stackable Ring Band Ring Ruby Gold Prong Open Adjustable "Drop of Water" Designer: J DAUPHIN The Drop of Water Ring is a fine open band in solid gold. The thin wire splits at the front into two ends that sit just apart, both tipped with a small prong set with ruby. The open back lets the band adjust on the finger, and it sits well stacked with other slim rings or worn alone. The ring is named for the story of Rabbi Akiva. A shepherd and a laborer, ignorant of Torah and unable to read the aleph bet at forty, Akiva sat one day by a brook and watched a steady trickle of water fall drop after drop onto a rock, until he saw that the constant drip had carved a hole clean through the stone. He reasoned that if soft water could wear through solid rock, then words of Torah, hard as iron, could carve themselves into his heart. He turned his life to study and became the greatest sage of his generation. The story holds the power of patience and steady change, the work whose results are not seen for years but which, drop after drop, transforms you. The ruby marks that single drop. J Dauphin was founded in 2006 by the Swedish French designer Johanna Dauphin. She built her foundation as a designer at Fendi and Tod's in Italy, then worked across Paris, New York, and Los Angeles, and her collections have been carried by luxury department stores worldwide. She has made custom pieces for musicians and royalty such as Keith Richards, Def Leppard, Brandi Carlile, Uma Thurman and more. Every piece is made entirely by hand using old school artisanal methods. The work draws on Victorian iconography and ancient symbols and treats jewelry as a modern talisman, contemporary relic, spiritual protection and alignment and healing.
