The Irish name (leath reul) literally meant “half reul”, the reul being a sixpence coin worth the same as the Spanish real (a quarter of a peseta). The intricate design features a hare on one side, and a musical harp on the reverse. The threepence coin charm is worn with an adjustable 18-20 inch yellow gold-plated curb chain. As with all Katie Mullally designs, the charm is collectable and can be delicately layered with other pieces.
