Rare Art Deco Blown Art Glass Vase Designed by Napoleone Martinuzzi; Circa 1935. Constructed of white blown glass captured between two layers of translucent mauve. This important work is part of Martinuzzi's Velato series for Zecchin & Martinuzzi; a Venetian glass company founded by Francesco Zecchin and Napoleone Martinuzzi. This piece was created by either of the two master glassblowers during this period; Alfredo Barbini or Otello Nason. The finessed form harkens back to ancient roman amphoriskos. Although created in the 1930s; it feels incredibly modern. The squat bulbous form with slight foot is finished with a translucent mauve rim; and two minimal soft scrolling handles. Acid-etched Italia on the underside of the base. A paper brand label would have likely been affixed to this piece as well.
