product description

Joan Miró's 1976 work, titled Georges Duthuit, is an etching and aquatint, named for the French art critic, author, and collector, with whom Miró was closely acquainted, and for whom, the work was created in tribute. The work is characteristic of Miró's mature, whimsical surrealist style, and features bold, meandering black lines that define playful, biomorphic shapes filled with splashes of vibrant color, including red, blue, green, and yellow. Another etching of this image resides in the Musée National des Beaux-Arts du Québec, and Miró's work is in the permanent collections of The Museum of Modern Art and Centre Georges Pompidou, among other premier art institutions. | Georges Duthuit in Black/Red, Large
