This sculptural vase for Serax fuses sloping sides and dramatic angles in an arresting silhouette. Bob Verhelst maximizes the material by showing off the hard, smooth and sharp qualities of glass. Depth is given to the 'Dunk 8' vase through pigment added to the base and sides. The design, shown here in the warm brown version, was first realized in cardboard, which speaks to the unique result: an innovative study of gradient and flat surface that transforms functionality into art.
