Ann Demeulemeester's 'Dé' series for Serax is a collection of shadow paintings on fine porcelain. The 'dégradé' feature – meticulously painted by hand in several layers – produces a dynamic interplay of lines. The effect is hypnotic, organic, mysterious. Edges are painted to different depths, creating variation in 'apeture' between pieces. This set of two deep plates, in white and black variation A, features the shadow painting as a detail on the rim.
