Shirley Villavicencio Pizango's expressionistic paintings enliven a series of vases for Serax. Colorful vessels in imaginative forms traverse fine art and ceramics. In 'Santiago de Borja', folk-style paintings reflect aspects of life and nature in the Amazonian village where the Belgian-Peruvian artist spent much of her childhood. The handpainted pieces bring the tropical atmosphere of her work to life. The 'Mamey' vase features a portrait of a woman on one side, and a kitchen scene on the other, featuring tiles and bottles in naturalistic colors. The design is decorated with flowers and foliage in pink and green. This waisted multicolor vase, with its two carrier-handles, is a work of art in its own right, and can be dressed with bright florals for spectacular displays.
