The Macchia su Macchia Flora candle from Stories of Italy is inspired by chromatic research and the deconstruction of the Murano glass macchia. Enclosed in a striking mouth-blown Murano glass holder, this floral scented candle is crafted from pure Italian vegetable wax with a 100% cotton wick. Handmade by master artisans, the glass container boasts a striking chromatic effect created through multiple layers of colourful pigments and flakes. Burn the candle to immerse yourself in the fresh scent of spring, and once exhausted, repurpose the glass as a small vase or pen holder. Please note: High temperatures, high pressure water and aggressive detergents can damage the surface of glass producing an irreversible patchy, cloudy or milky effect.

A new project borne from ongoing research into the techniques and processes required to produce 'macchia' — a type of Murano glass — Stories of Italy presents 'Macchia su Macchia', a collection of glass pieces that continue the brand's deconstruction and reassembly of traditional Murano production methods. In removing the crystal layer typically applied to 'macchia', the items in the collection take on an opaque effect, while chromatic motifs materialise through the repeated applications of vibrant pigment and flakes. The result is layers on layers of a soft and dense texture — a guise that is wholly distinct from classic Murano glass yet undeniable in its roots and connection to the colourful glazes, marbles and pietre dure popular throughout ancient Italy. This floral scented candle combines yellow and pink coloured glass with quality Italian vegetable wax for a stunning item that tangibly demonstrates Stories of Italy's commitment to its key role in the creation of contemporary Italian art glass.
