Designed by Tham and Vidergård for Swedish brand Wästberg, the 'Alma' pendant lamp is based on a circle of soft sine waves. The result is a pattern of concentric circles — depending on the light source — created from light and shadow, which offer equal impact whether the lamp is displayed independently or as part of a group, from which it can contribute to a series of floating points of light. The soft and reductive shape of 'Alma' lends itself to a sculptural quality, which is enhanced by its slim silhouette and the lamp's satin matte finish and soft white hue, both of which are apparent even in daylight. The 'w171 Alma' lamp was first created by Tham and Videgårdfor in collaboration with Wästberg for a co-working facility project in Stockholm, called Alma.
