Designed by Swedish firm Wingårdhs Architects for Zanat, the 'Saturn' bowl is a tactile wooden vessel that comes with a smooth wooden ball. Carved entirely from walnut, this interactive piece is both a decorative accessory and a ‘game of equilibrium’. The challenge is to roll the ball into the central hole, or to gently push it along the radiating, hand-carved grooves and conical core to find its resting point. This meditative kinetic centerpiece is presented in a rich walnut oil hue, and brings an intriguing sculptural presence to surfaces.
